Definition;

2. Adjectives Of Quality Or State (Descriptive Adjectives)

Definition;

Adjectives of quality are those adjectives that describe and show the kind, state, or quality of a person or a thing, etc.

Examples Of Adjectives of Quality

You are a  good boy.

Ali is a fat boy.

You are an honest person.

Lahore is a large city.

My mother is very sweaty.

3. Adjective Of Number (Or Numeral Adjectives)

Definition;

Adjectives of number are those adjectives that show how many persons or things are meant, or in what order a person or a thing stands. In English grammar, it helps you to understand the quality or position of a noun in a sentence.

Note: Some adjectives can be used both for quantity and number.

Definition;

Demonstrative adjectives are those adjectives are used with nouns to point out which person or thing is meant They help provide clarity by showing which particular thing or thing you are referring to.

Examples Of Demonstrative Adjectives;

That boy is industrious.

These  books are very interesting.

Those cars are very fast.

5.Interrogative Adjectives

Definition;

In English grammar also known as interrogative determiner.  Interrogative adjectives are used with nouns to ask questions.

Examples:

What would you like to have for dinner?

Can you tell me what kind of that man is?

6. Distributive Adjectives 

Definition;

In English grammar we can define distributive adjectives like this, distributive adjectives are adjectives that are used to individually point out a person/thing of a group. It comes before a noun it modifies.

Definition;

In English grammar, we can define possessive adjectives like this, a possessive adjective is a word used to show that someone or something owns. Possessive adjective helps us who owns or has something.

Did you pick your bag?

My brother is tall and beautiful.

Her father is working hard for them.

Important Points About The Use Of Adjectives In A Sentence

The comparative Degree of an adjective is followed by “than”; as

Ali is wiser than Aslam.

But when the selection of one out of the two objects is meant, we use “of’ in place of “than”; as

He is the taller of the two.

If two objects are compared with each other, the latter term of comparison must exclude the former by using “any other”

Gold is more precious than any other metal.

Lahore is larger than any other city in Pakistan.

The superlative Degree is used only when more than two things of the same class are compared. It is preceded by “the” as,

Karachi is the largest of all the cities in Pakistan.

Ayesha is the tallest girl in the class.

Double Comparative or double Superlative must not be used; as,

This is more better than that…(Incorrect) This book is much better than that. (correct)
This is the most best of all.(Incorrect) This book is the best of all. (correct)

A comparative cannot be used with “comparatively”; as.

I have bought a compara-tively easier book. (Incorrect)

I have bought a comparatively easy book. (correct)
